2011 Holiday Gift Guide: Guylian Belgian Chocolate {Review & Giveaway}

Chocolate. Is there any other PERFECT gift? How about Belgian Chocolate? There is just something that makes Belgian chocolate taste smoother, creamier... divine! Over the years, I've tried my fair share (and then some) of chocolate and when I tried Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolates, I was in heaven.

A true love story of romance and chocolate. Ahhhh.... LOVE at it's finest!

Guylian was super generous and sent over wonderful selection of chocolates to sample. I received the Guylian® No Sugar Added Bars (both milk and dark chocolate), Artisanal Belgian Extra Dark Chocolate Truffles (assorted sizes) and the Artisanal Belgian Chocolate Truffles (assorted sizes). Seems like a lot, right... I know... it was difficult, but I managed. lol.

Since dark chocolate is my all time favorite... I immediately tore into opened the Artisanal Belgian Extra Dark Chocolate Truffles. These truffles DID NOT disappoint. They were rich in flavor and smooth in texture. An absolute slice of heaven.

Over the next few days, I began to sample my other little treats. The Guylian No Sugar Added Bars were next. Ugh, first thoughts... no sugar.... uh-oh... sugar substitutes = bad aftertaste. Then I came to my senses and figured, it's chocolate, how bad can it REALLY be?? Again, since dark chocolate is a favorite, I would try that first. I wondered how it would compare to the Belgian Extra Dark Chocolate Truffles I had tried just a few short days ago. Well, to my amazement and (for lack of a better word) surprise.... it was just as delicious and also had quite a smooth texture. What was even more impressive was that Guylian doesn't use the typical sugar substitute. They actually replace the sugar with Maltitol, a 100% natural sugar free sweetener that is derived from natural sources. It's also lower in calories and doesn't raise blood sugar levels, making it perfect for diabetics to enjoy. Impressive!

Finally, I HAD to try the Artisanal Belgian Chocolate Truffles. It was a tough task, but I suffered through and ate some more chocolate. lol. Joking aside, these truffles were truly delicious. They combine dark, milk and white chocolate and then are filled with a rich, creamy and flavorful truffle.  Still using the original recipe of Guy & Liliane, their signature truffle recipe is still made in small-batch copper kettles exclusively by Guylian's Master Chocolatiers in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. It was hard to eat just one... or two... absolutely AMAZING!

Final thoughts: Guylian chocolates were tasty, delicious and very enjoyable. They are made of superior quality ingredients and definitely had a much better flavor than many of it's competitors. Guylian Artisanal Belgian Chocolate Truffles would make a great gift for the holidays. Now c'mon, who doesn't LOVE chocolate?

Assassin's Creed: Revelations {Review} - Amazon Gold Box Special - Just $35.99

Without a doubt, we are a game system house. Wii, check... Playstation 3, check.... LOTS of games.... the more, the better. So when Clever Girls Collective on behalf Ubisoft offered Assassin's Creed: Revelations game for review... we, or shall I say... my husband was ALL over it!

Since the beginning, my husband has played every Assassin's Creed game, so he was familiar with the basic storyline. Although it is a continuation of the series, you don't have to have expertise of the previous games to actually play this game.

DG was happy to see the return of characters past. There are of course, new weapon, scenery and equipment. The game play of visiting various cities is similar and the graphics are simply amazing. If you are a fan of past Assassin's Creed games, this particular one in the series will certainly not disappoint!


Final Thoughts: Good plot, lots of game play. Although you can play this game immediately, it would be helpful to play prior installments first as to acclimate yourself with characters, plot  and more.

If I could have my way, I certainly would LOVE to be a professional photographer. Me and my Nikon SLR are like best buddies. Of course, when I use it, I like to have it strapped to my neck, for fear of dropping it... I'm clumsy like that... First, what I loved about mod. straps was that each one had it's own unique print. The prints were vibrant, fun and definitely different. Three important qualities I look for in products. Installation (if that's what you call it) was very easy. A quick loop here, slide through there... and wah-lah.... beautiful new strap on and ready for use. The strap itself is lined with Minky Cuddle Plush fabric which I found to be extremely comfortable and super soft. The decorative portion of the strap is 34" while the total length generally averages 44" - 58". On each end of the strap there is a quick release if you want to easily remove the strap for storage.

My kids have been huge fans of the Alvin and the Chipmunk movie series. So when they saw a commercial for newest movie in the series, Alvin and the Chipmunk: Chipwrecked, they wanted to go to the theater and see it immediately. Ahhh, the power of advertising! Although secretly, I have to say that I am as excited as them to see it. Since the movie isn't quite out yet, we have Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked for the Wii to help entertain us in the meantime!

Player have the option of choosing which character they would like to be from any of the Chipmunks or Chipettes. They can then perform from fifty different dance moves by following the the moves on the screen. You score more points the closer you are to the move and beats you see and hear. A "Munk Power" meter increases your score when it's filled. Based upon your superb dancing skills, you can earn different types of trophies to put in display.

There is an option to play the game alone or with more than one player. There is also the ability to battle it out in the Co-Op mode and each character can be customized in a selection of super cute attire. 

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked is fun and entertaining for the whole family. Along with kids, we have been thoroughly enjoying ourselves, singing and dancing along with our favorite Chipmunks and Chippettes. It's a great interactive game and I know that it will get a lot of use this winter season! This would make a fantastic stocking stuffer for that gamer in your life! Now... c'mon... go and get your Chipmunk groove on....

The Banded Knit Stripe Dolman sweater ($112) (above) has now become my FAVORITE go-to sweater. It not only super modern and stylish, it's the most comfortable sweater in my own collection. As I am not a huge fan of horizontal stripes, I was a bit concerned of how it would look once on my body. The style of this sweater not only feels great, it looks amazing too. I think that the Banded Knit Strip Dolman sweater would be quite flattering on a variety of body types. The stretchy jersey knit banded hem and sleeves is the perfect compliment to the complete this sweater.

Every New Year's Eve, we like to get dressed up and go out to celebrate with our friends. This is the one night that I get to get out of my yoga pants and sweatshirt and into something special. Luckily for me, Karen Kane's Rose Ruffle Dress ($148) is not only stunning, but extremely comfy. I was a bit leary when I read that this dress was made of polyester/spandex fabric. You are probably thinking (as was I)... ugh, polyester and spandex.... really? No one looks good in polyester and spandex! When it arrived, I was shocked. It was super fabulous in person. Karen Kane takes the term "little black dress" to the next level. The small ruffled roses make this dress fun, unique and sophisticated all at the same time! Not only is this dress beautiful, it over the top, comfortable!

Coming this January 2012, Karen Kane will introduce the {Sweet Dream} collection. This collection will feature pretty pink, deep navy, and lots of novelty prints making January a month to celebrate. Fun, feminine, and flirty, it's the perfect start to 2012! (Take a sneak peek below.)

But, I've been wearing it on my left index finger because according to the ancient belief, it is said to most influence memory and helps remind us to remember kindness.
