Believe in Heroes – Support Wounded Warrior Project & Save on Groceries! #BelieveinHeroes #sponsored

I’m participating in the 2014 Believe in Heroes blogger campaign and received compensation as part of the program.

I’m thrilled to share with you an amazing organization called Believe in Heroes. This organization has helped raise more than $16 million for the Wounded Warrior Project which in turn has helped serve more than 40,000 wounded service members.

What Is Believe In Heroes?

Believe in Heroes was created in 2010 in collaboration with Acosta Sales & Marketing to make a positive impact on the new generation of injured service members who have made significant sacrifices to preserve our freedoms and protect our country. Most veterans face challenges as they transition back into civilian life, and today's wounded veterans are meeting extraordinary obstacles including, the physical injuries as well as invisible ones, like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It’s time for EVERYONE to take part in ensuring our injured service members are well taken care of.

Beginning September 7, 2014 and running through Veterans Day, November 11, 2014, Believe in Heroes calls on Americans to show their support and appreciation for our service members and newest generation of veterans in a simple everyday way — grocery shopping. Each participating brand and retailer will help raise funds and awareness for WWP through the Believe in Heroes campaign.

What is The Wounded Warrior Project?

Wounded Warrior Project (founded in 2003) is a veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions (Iraq and Afghanistan) following the events of September 11, 2001.

The vision of Wounded Warrior Project is to “foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history” by raising awareness of the needs of severely injured service members. Honoring and empowering Wounded Warriors is their mission.

Boys & Girls Club of America - Tools for Back To School Initiative!

Featured Sponsor

If you have been following along for the past month or so, we, like many other, have been shopping, preparing and gathering our supplies to head back to school in a couple of short weeks. We take our annual trip to the store to gather each child's teacher's school supplies requests. In addition, the kids get a new first day of school outfit, along with new tennis shoes, backpacks and lunch boxes. We also do a little end of summer grooming, like getting each child's haircut. By the end of summer, I'm exhausted, but the kids (as I) will be ready for the new school year to begin.

I love supporting and promoting initiatives that promote higher education and learning. For more than 150 years, Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) has been doing just that. They provide kids with a safe haven along with highly engaging activities to help them develop the creativity and confidence necessary to succeed in school. Through programs geared towards education, leadership development, arts and fitness, BGCA helps young people reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

This years the BGCA has teamed up with Disney to launch the Tools for Back To School InitiativeThis initiative features a pop-quiz style game, where supplies are donated to BGCA for every correct answer you score.  Five correct answers = school supplies for a Club kid. How cool is that! I just took the quiz and scored some supplies for a participating Club kid. It's easy to give back... so why don't you give it a try?! Your kids can do it too... it's a great way to get them involved (and seriously, who doesn't love a little trivia?).

In addition to the amazing Tools for Back To School Initiative, BGCA has also partnered with jcpenney to allow it's customers to join jcp cares and round up purchases at the register to benefit BGCA during the entire month of August. Another very simple and easy way to give back.

The Boys & Girls Club of America not only want to help it's kids, but also would like parents to feel prepared too, so they have created a variety of educational content and tip sheets that they can easily download and utilize at a parent's leisure. Make sure to visit HERE (located on the left side under the ‘Get Ready’ header) to print your very own copies.

Making a difference doesn't require a lot of time or effort thanks to organizations and companies such as the Boys & Girls Club of America, Disney and jcpenney. It super easy to participate... so get on out there.... and make a difference in your community!

Johnson & Johnson Healthy Essentials - Lots of Savings!

If you are like me, I love the Sunday paper... {1} for the advertisements and {2} the coupons. I love those Sunday inserts and this past Sunday (January 8th) did not disappoint. I came across the Healthy Essentials saving pack that featured over $190 in saving on some of my favorite brands such as Johnson & Johnson, Band-Aid, Aveeno, Splenda, Listerine and many more!

What's even more exciting is that any "Healthy Essentials" coupon redeemed now through January 15th will result in one meal donated by Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies to FEEDING AMERICA™ (up to 1 million meals). To learn more, visit: http://www.healthyessentials.com

I love the idea of giving back and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that!

ace and friends thoughts on the Johnson & Johnson {Healthy Essentials} Pack:
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion -  Its fast-absorbing formula helps prevent and protect dry skin, leaving it feeling soft, smooth and naturally healthy looking. It's fragrance free, non-greasy, noncomedogenic and gentle enough for everyday use. I've been using it religiously daily and my hands are smoother than ever.

Band-Aids (design by Cynthia Rowley) -  Cutest Band-Aids ever. Who knew a Band-Aid could be so stylish. Thanks Cynthia!

Johnson's Baby Lotion -  A classic staple in any mom's collection. The fragrance hasn't changed and works as well as it did as when I was a kids. It keeps baby's skin soft and smelling wonderful.

LISTERINE Antiseptic Mouthwash, Cool Mint - Again, I've been a Listerine user for years and it always leaves my mouth feeling clean and refreshed. I especially found the mint flavor to be just right.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream - I love this hand cream for a few different reasons, {1} it's fragrance free {2}  a little goes a long way {3} gives my dry hand immediate relief.

Splenda Essentials - I've been a fan of Splenda for years and the new Splenda essentials has zero calories and contains B vitamins to help support a healthy metabolism.

Share-It-Forward With o.b.

First, I am thankful that I live in a country that allows us so many day-to-day conveniences! I sometimes tend to forget how wonderful I really have it. I am fortunate to have a warm home, access to stores, healthy food and so much more. Unfortunately for others in developing countries, every day conveniences are not so easy to access.

For those in these developing countries, not only do they have to live day to day in poor conditions, but they also struggle with other important health issues. Millions of girls in these countries have to suffer, because unlike the women and girls in the United States, they don't have easy access to sanitary protection. Yep, sanitary protection, something that we (as women in the U.S.) take for granted. Young girls within these countries are dropping out of school because they are unable to afford sanitary protection or even worse, resort to to dangerous alternatives, which increases their susceptibility to poverty and disease, including HIV.

Thankfully, there is something YOU and I can do for these young girls. o.b. Brand has created  a Share-It-Forward Facebook campaign to raise money and awareness for Huru International, a non-profit organization that provides at-risk young girls in developing countries with the resources and knowledge they need to complete their education and safeguard their health.  Now through November, the o.b. Brand will donate $1 (up to $25,000) for every person who visits the o.b. Outreach Tab on the mighty. small.™ movement Facebook page and "Shares" a message about Huru International's mission.

Here's how you can help (p.s. it's SUPER simple!)

Visit visits the o.b. Outreach Tab on the mighty. small.™ movement Facebook page.

{1} Like the mighty.small.movement
{2} Select your state of legal residence within the green box
{3} Check that you accept the Terms & Conditions
{4} “Click to Share” button (in pink) to post the message on your Wall
{5} That's it. Continue to help "Share-It-Forward".

See what this movement is doing to help...

Heart of Haiti and Macy's

The devastating earthquake of January 2010 has made it nearly impossible for Haitians to earn a living. Raw materials have been wiped out, there are a lack of secure and sanitary conditions and little funding to support economic relief.

Through the sale of Heart of Haiti products, artisans are able to earn life-changing income for themselves, their families, and their communities. The initiative is enabling artisans to repair homes, pay school fees, and feed and clothe their families. The income also allows them to have access to better nutrition, improved education and healthcare.

The Heart of Haiti collection has already led to employment of 350 artists in Haiti and has provided some financial benefits for an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 people in the country.

Check out the Heart of Haiti collection on Macys.com.
