2012 Get Fit, It's Fun Guide: Sportline Cardio 630 Heart Rate Monitor vs. Sportline Cardio 660 {Review & Giveaway}

Featured Sponsor

It's been a busy couple of weeks testing out two unique Heart Rate Monitors by Sportline. I was given the fortunate opportunity to compare the Cardio 630 and Cardio 660. Yeah me!

First, let me tell you about the different functions that are available for each watch. I will then give you my thoughts/opinion on how each watch performed during my time at the gym using both watches.

The Cardio 630 ($49.99, available in men’s and women’s styles) is one of Sportline’s easiest to use heart rate monitors. It's designed for ease of use during your workout and beyond. It's suitable for variety of different exercises from running to spinning, and cycling and step. The Cardio 630 provides an ECG accurate heart rate measurement via the included heart rate (HR) monitor chest strap. The HR readouts include an HR Percent Max Indicator and a standard HR zone display to keep you on target with your fitness goals. Additional sport friendly features include a Calorie Burn Tracker and a Chronograph.

When you are not at the gym, you will appreciate the Cardio 630's fully featured watch capabilities that include 12/24 hour setting options, dual-time, a calendar, and an optional hourly chime. Built to last, the Cardio 630 is water resistant down to 50 meters and carries a five year warranty from Sportline.

Cardio 660 Heart Rate Monitor ($69.99, available in men’s and women’s styles) is just as easy to use including all the ECG accurate data that you have been asking for in a heart rate monitor watch. This watch is simple to immediately set up so you can get right to your fitness. A customizable user profile helps you monitor your results more accurately.

Cardio 660 Heart Rate Monitor features

ace and friends thoughts:

First up, the Cardio 630. The Cardio 630 Heart Rate Monitor is what I have been traditionally use to using in the past. It has the chest belt which continually monitor your heart rate. It was VERY easy to set-up and get started instantly. In comparison to it's competition (which I have used in the past), the Sportline Cardio 630 has a much easier user-friendly start-up. The watch features are very intuitive and not too overwhelming. If you are a first-time user of heart rate monitor, this watch would be the ideal choice.

The watch itself is super light and quite comfortable to wear. The chest strap is adjustable and didn't feel as though it interfered with my workout. The Cardio 630 is a great entry watch and has all the important features I would want in a heart rate monitor, including my favorite, calories burned!

********************************************************************
Next up, Sportline Cardio 660. This watch is a step up from the Cardio 630 in that it offers a few additional key features. Again, this watch was super user-friendly and was easy to use right out of the package. Once you set-up your user profile (with a little help from the manual), you are ready to begin monitoring your workout. This watch (as well as the Cardio 630) offer the ability to code it specifically to it's own chest strap as to not interfere with other surrounding heart rate monitors. Many of my friends wear them, so this is a great (as well as important) feature for me. This watch also offers calories burned as well as a fat burn alarm, a feature not offered in the Cardio 630 watch.

The chest strap and watch of both styles have a replaceable batteries using a standard lithium CR2032, which is not as common in competitive brands. In addition, this watch has a built in chronograph, countdown time and alarm. It essentially has all the necessary options that I love in a heart rate monitor. Again, the chest strap is more comfortable than expected. Overall, the watch performed quite well and certainly for the price, it's an excellent buy.

Final verdict: What I liked about both watches was they both offered a power save mode which allows you to conserve battery life by deactivating the unit when the monitor is not being used for long periods of time. Between the two watches, I would definitely choose the Cardio 660 over the Cardio 630, for the sole reason of additional usable features. I like to spin, step and do other types of cardiovascular exercises where my heart rate changes and both watches are great for these types of activities. The Cardio 660 appears to give me the most accurate heart rate reading and calories burned count. I also liked the ability to change your own battery in the chest belt. Other chest belts from competitors need to be taken to a specific watch dealer. Great watches at a great price!
